Terms of Service
- traderust is a marketplace where users buy, sell and swap Rust skins with each other. Every price is set by a user's order - we don't trade against you.
- Skins you deposit are held by our Steam vault bot on your behalf. You can withdraw them to Steam at any time.
- Trading is free. Cashing out to crypto costs 2%. Crypto payments can't be reversed once sent.
- No stolen skins, fraud or money laundering. We can freeze accounts while we investigate.
1. Who we are
traderust.com ("traderust", "we", "us") is operated by TradeRust. By signing in or using the site you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use traderust.
2. Who can use traderust
- You must be at least 18, and old enough to make a binding agreement where you live.
- You must not use traderust where trading game items or crypto is against the law for you, and you are responsible for following the laws that apply to you, including tax.
- You need a Steam account in good standing that can trade. One traderust account per person.
3. Your account
- You sign in with Steam. Your traderust account is tied to that Steam account; we never see your Steam password.
- You are responsible for everything done with your account and its API keys. Keep your Steam account and keys secure - anyone with your Steam login, or an API key with the trade scope, can trade as you.
- API keys can never move skins or money off traderust: withdrawals, cash-outs and instant sell always need you signed in on the site.
- The Steam trade URL you save must be your own Steam account's.
4. What traderust is
traderust runs one order book per skin. Users place buy and sell orders at their own prices; instant buys, sells and swaps fill against those orders. traderust provides the marketplace, holds deposited skins and balances, and settles trades - it is not the buyer or seller in your trades and does not place orders of its own.
Reference prices and price history shown on the site (for example from the Steam Community Market via rust.wiki) are information only, not offers to trade.
5. Skins and the vault
- Deposits and withdrawals happen through Steam trade offers between your Steam account and our vault bot. Before accepting, check the offer is from our bot (shown on the Inventory page) and that its message reads "traderust.com deposit #…" or "withdrawal #…" with the offer number the site shows you.
- Custody. Deposited skins are held in our vault bot's Steam inventory on your behalf; your traderust inventory shows what you own. Skins are interchangeable by name: a withdrawal sends you skins of the same name, not necessarily the exact copies you deposited. The vault is checked against everyone's balances regularly, and the result is public on Stats.
- Offers expire after 10 minutes if not accepted, and you can cancel one any time before it completes.
- Steam decides the outcome. Nothing is credited or removed until Steam reports a final result. If you accept an offer at the same moment it is cancelled, whatever Steam reports - including a completed trade - is what we record.
- We can't recover skins you send anywhere other than our vault bot, or that you lose through a compromised Steam account.
6. Your balance and crypto
- Your balance is in US dollars, shown to a tenth of a cent. It is used to buy skins and can be cashed out to crypto. It is not a bank account, doesn't earn interest and isn't covered by any deposit protection scheme.
- Crypto deposits are processed by our payment provider, NOWPayments. You're credited for the dollar value that actually arrives once the network confirms it. The minimum deposit is $5.
- Cash-outs are sent in the coin and to the address you choose. The minimum is $5. You can cancel a cash-out for 60 seconds after requesting it; after that it is sent and cannot be reversed. Crypto sent to a wrong address you entered can't be recovered.
- Network conditions and the provider's own processing can delay a cash-out. If the provider rejects one, the money goes straight back to your balance; if one fails part-way, we check it by hand before anything else happens.
7. Fees
- Buying, selling, swapping and placing orders: free.
- Moving skins to and from Steam: free.
- Cashing out to crypto: 2% of the amount, taken out of it, and only charged once the cash-out is actually sent.
Current fees are always shown in the site footer and before you confirm. If we change them we'll show the new fees before they apply to you.
8. Orders and trades
- Instant trades fill at the price you were shown or better - if prices move against you before you confirm, nothing trades and you see the new prices.
- Orders wait on the order book at your price until they fill or you cancel them. A sell order sets those skins aside. A buy order sets nothing aside: it is paid from your balance when it fills, and if your balance can't cover it at that moment it is cancelled.
- Completed trades are final. If a trade happens because of an obvious technical error (for example, a price clearly not anything a user entered), we may reverse or adjust it and will tell you.
9. Instant sell
Instant sell sells your skins to the best buy orders and cashes the proceeds out to crypto in one action, at the total you were shown or better. For skins already on traderust, the sale and the cash-out happen together or not at all. Skins still in your Steam inventory are deposited first; the sale and cash-out run when the deposit arrives. If the cash-out can't start at that point, the sale still completes and the money stays in your balance - you'll be told why. The usual cash-out fee and cancellation window apply.
10. What's not allowed
- Depositing or trading stolen skins, or skins from accounts you don't control.
- Fraud, money laundering, or using traderust to hide where money or items came from.
- Manipulating prices - for example trading with yourself or with others in coordination to fake prices or volume.
- Running more than one account, or using someone else's.
- Exploiting bugs, or getting around our limits - report bugs to us instead.
- Pretending to be traderust or our bot, or sending traderust users fake trade offers.
- Automated access other than through the API and within its limits.
11. Suspension and investigations
If we reasonably suspect a breach of these terms, fraud, stolen items or illegal activity, we may limit or suspend your account, cancel open orders and pending transfers, and hold skins or balance while we investigate, including where the law requires us to. We may ask you for information to complete an investigation. Where we close an account that isn't involved in wrongdoing, we'll let you withdraw what you own.
12. Risks you accept
- Skin prices can rise or fall quickly; nothing on traderust is investment advice.
- Steam, Valve or Facepunch can change trading rules, restrict accounts - including our vault bot's - or change items, any of which can delay or affect deposits and withdrawals.
- Crypto payments are irreversible, and coin values and network fees change.
- Like any online service, traderust can have outages or bugs.
13. Availability and changes
We work to keep traderust running but can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change, pause or stop features. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when. If a change matters to you we'll tell you on the site before it applies, and continuing to use traderust after that means you accept it.
14. Liability
traderust is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or losses caused by Steam, Valve, payment networks or other services outside our control, and our total liability to you is limited to the value of the skins and balance in your account at the time of the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
15. Steam and Valve
traderust is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Valve Corporation or Facepunch Studios. Steam and Rust are trademarks of their respective owners. Your use of Steam is also governed by Valve's own terms.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes go to the courts there, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
